Anuseye Psych Rock band

Anuseye

Biography

ANUSEYE was formed in 2010 from the ashes of That's All Folks!, a band that helped pioneer the Stoner Rock scene in 1990s Italy. That early group shared stages and releases with genre icons such as Nebula, Ufomammut, Firebird, and Roadsaw. At the heart of Anuseye is musician Claudio Colaianni, also known to psychedelic rock fans for his side project Colt.38, which has been releasing underground gems since 2001. The self-titled Colt.38 album, reissued by Nasoni Records in 2008, earned praise from British psych legends like Bari Watts, Nick Saloman (The Bevis Frond), Julian Cope, and Adrian Shaw.

With Anuseye, Colaianni moved away from the heavier sounds of his earlier bands, embracing a more refined 1960s-inspired Psychedelic Rock style, marked by greater technical and artistic depth. Over the years, the band has shared stages with the likes of The Fuzztones, Vibravoid, The Warlocks, Yawning Man, Hypnosis, and others. Anuseye’s self-titled debut album was released in 2011 by Interbang Records and produced by UK-based John Wills (Loop, The Hair & Skin Trading Company). The album cover featured a provocative artwork by Massimo Gurnari, who also created an ultra-limited run of 30 hand-painted copies.

In 2014, the band signed with indie label Vincebus Eruptum Recordings and released Essay on a Drunken Cloud on LP and CD, bundled with Vincebus Eruptum fanzine #18. Their next release, the 12" vinyl 3:33 333, arrived in 2019 on the same label and was hailed by music critics as one of the year's best records. Its artwork was created by Bulgarian illustrator Boris Pramatarov, marking the beginning of a lasting collaboration. For Anuseye, the connection between music and visual art is essential — an inseparable part of their identity and creative vision.

Following several lineup changes, the current formation of Anuseye features leader Claudio Colaianni on guitar and vocals, multi-instrumentalist Stefano Pomponio (ex Madre De Dios) on guitar, keys, piano, and backing vocals, Giovanni D'Elia (ex Karma In Auge) on bass, and Cosimo Armenio (ex Apulian Blues Foundation) on drums and percussion.

In 2023, Anuseye signed with Go Down Records to release their fourth record, Right Place Wrong Time — a concept album exploring the theme of travel, halfway between the real and the dreamlike, through the places that have shaped the musicians’ inner consciousness. The cover artwork, once again crafted by Pramatarov, accompanied the LP and digital release in Fall 2023.
