Bila
Biography
The caustic Hardcore/Noise Punk trio BILA is characterized by high-octane, socially and humor-charged bursts of energy, delivered in a visceral, ragey, bilingual song form—Maltese and English.
The band started out towards the end of 2014 and debuted with the EP Liba, released by the Venice-based indie label Youth of Today on cassette the following year. In 2016, it was released digitally for the Malta-based label Kewn Records. This led to tours in Malta and Italy, as well as appearances at festivals such as Rock the South Malta and Sickfest. They performed at the annual “Malta Takes London” event both in 2016 and 2017, at Proud Camden and Blundell Street Studios, respectively.
In June 2018, Bila released their first 7-inch, Do What I Want, co-produced by the Canadian label Kingfisher Bluez and Kewn Records, achieving great success. That same year, the band opened for Kaiser Chiefs in Malta and released their EP Bestjarju via Kewn Records.
In February 2019, they embarked on a mini tour in the UK. Later that year, Bila released their EP Deheb, Inċens u Bila via Kewn Records, and toured alongside Illinois-based post-metal band Staghorn across the American Midwest, playing twelve blistering shows in twelve states. The trio built on this buzz with constant gigging and writing of new material for their first studio album. Recorded and produced by renowned British multi-instrumentalist/producer Wayne Adams (Petbrick, Big Lad), their full-length Beżżalart is the purest representation of Bila’s sound, vibe, and energy. Scheduled for release on December 4, 2025, via Kewn Records and Go Down Records, it will be available on LP and streaming services.
