From the land of cacti to the land of Sangiovese wine—from California to Romagna, Italy—FATSO JETSON and HERBA MATE unite on the split album Early Shapes. A blend of desert rock, stoner grooves, psychedelia, romanticism, and thundering visions, the record brings together two distinctive musical worlds.
 
Fatso Jetson’s tracks come from different sessions, but all are the result of collaborations with friends and musicians from the stoner-rock scene. The first two tracks, “Living All Over You” and “Long Deep Breath,” feature Mathias Schneeberger (Mark Lanegan, Afghan Whigs, Brant Bjork, Mondo Generator) and Abby Travis (Beck, The Bangles, Eagles of Death Metal). The third track, “Nyquilt,” features Australian musician and filmmaker Adam Harding (DJ Shadow, Lou Barlow, Dinosaur Jr., Melvins).
 
Herba Mate’s tracks were recorded live at Go Down Studio in Savignano sul Rubicone, Italy—an approach that is nothing new for the band. The release features two instrumental tracks, “Desert Inn I” and “Desert Inn II,” alongside two songs featuring Alessandro Trerè on vocals: “Dance Dance Dance” and a cover of The Core's “Way Down,” which has become a regular part of the trio’s live set.
 
The CD edition is finished with a beautiful screen-printed design.
