Coming straight from the Maximum Festival 2013 stage, here is the live performance of FATSO JETSON!
A cult band at the antipodes of the stoner-rock wave, Fatso Jetson has always remained unfairly on the edge of the mainstream scene, even though we are talking about one of the pioneers of the movement, along with Kyuss and Fu Manchu. With the Fu Manchu band they also share the same hometown, Palm Desert, California. If we also consider that Mario and Larry Lalli were among the founders of Yawning Man, it’s clear how important these musicians are for the birth and growth of desert rock. Although they’re the godfathers of a genre highly marked by music loops, Fatso Jetson stands out from any other band, due to its dynamic and eclectic sound. Especially since 2010, when the band has returned with a nearly punk-sounding record after eight years of hiatus. Live At Maximum Festival shows not only that Fatso Jetson are more alive than ever, but also their musical development. Nowadays they’re playing a mix of hard-rock, jazz, blues, country, psychedelia and acid-prog, while only an echo of the monolithic stoner sound remains. 50 minutes of fast and furious live act led by Mario Lalli’s eclectic vocals. Just one thing left to say: wow!

Direttamente dal palco del Maximum Festival 2013, ecco la registrazione integrale della performance dei FATSO JETSON. Band culto agli antipodi dell'ondata stoner-rock, i Fatso Jetson sono sempre rimasti ingiustamente ai margini della scena mainstream, anche se parliamo di una band fra le iniziatrici del movimento, assieme a Kyuss e Fu Manchu. Con quest'ultimi condividono anche la provenienza, Palm Desert, California. Se aggiungiamo che Mario e Larry Lalli furono anche tra i fondatori di Yawning Man, capiamo quanto questi musicisti siano stati vitali per la nascita e lo sviluppo del desert-rock. Benchè padri spirituali di un genere musicale che ha fatto della ripetizione la propria carta vincente, i Fatso Jetson si distinguono da ogni altra band per il loro suono mobile ed eterogeneo, specialmente a partire dal 2010, quando la band tornò sulle scene dopo 8 anni di silenzio con un disco che suonava quasi punk. Il Live At Maximum Festival dimostra non solo che i Fatso Jetson sono più vivi che mai, ma anche la loro crescita professionale. Oggi la band suona come un mix tra hard-rock, jazz, blues, country, psichedelia e acid-prog, mentre dello stoner dai caratteri monolitici rimane sono una, indelebile, traccia. 50 minuti di live serratissimo e aggressivo, trascinato dalla eclettica ed eccentrica voce di Mario Lalli. Alla fine dell'ascolto c'è solo un commento da fare: wow!
Go Down Records porge il suo tributo ad una delle band seminali del desert-rock. Inoltre grazie a questo album dal vivo è diventata un'etichetta nota anche all'estero. In cambio spera di restituire un po' della gratificazione che questa band merita.
