GUNASH’s third album, Great Expectations, unfolds like a film about society. Like any movie, it moves through different “frames": wide panoramic shots of today's troubled world; ironic, self-absolutory scenes (Stone Garden); and reflections on our roots, echoed in Shakespeare’s line -What is the city, but the people?- (“Sicktown”). It shifts to close, tense confrontations with paranoia and otherness (“Mirror”), to the dynamics of media submission (“Need To Bleed”), and to the fragile terrain of love (“Mean, Stray Dog And The Killing Silence”). Between these scenes are intimate moments charged with hope and uncertainty (“Great Expectations”), brief detours that release the pressure built over time (“Gunash Blues”), and a macabre hymn to life itself (“Death Comes”). While the end credits roll, the director’s disillusioned gaze brings the message into focus: above all, we must nurture great expectations within ourselves.

This album took shape during Gunash’s 2015 US tour. The band recorded three singles at Fonogenic Studios in Los Angeles, featuring Rami Jaffee. In 2016, they completed the album at Go Down Studio in Savignano sul Rubicone, with Jaffee contributing keyboards and serving as artistic producer.

GUNASH, formed in 2003 in Bra, Northwest Italy, emerged from the creative vision of guitarist Ivano Zorgniotti and drummer Danilo Abaldo. Initially a cover band, they evolved to create an original rock-alternative sound, influenced by punk, metal, grunge, stoner, and prog, drawing inspiration from the 90s Seattle Sound and bands like Soundgarden and Nirvana. The band's name cleverly combines 'Ganesh' with 'gun' and 'ash,' symbolizing a fusion of spirituality and contradiction.

In 2005, they released their self-titled debut for the indie label New LM Records from Ravenna, Italy. After many gigs and lineup changes, bassist Mauro Ippolito joined in 2008, solidifying the trio, with cellist Marco Allocco occasionally added. In 2012, during the development of their sophomore album, they began collaborating with LA-based musician and producer Rami Jaffee, known for his work with Foo Fighters and The Wallflowers. The album Same Old Nightmare features cellist Marco Allocco and marks Gunash's signing with Go Down Records. Released in May 2014, it received good reviews and airplay in Europe and the US. The band toured through Italy, Spain, and the US, culminating in a performance at Whisky A Go-Go in West Hollywood.

In the summer of 2016, Gunash recorded their third album, Great Expectations, at Go Down Studio in Cesena, featuring Rami Jaffee on keyboards and production, alongside Marco Allocco on cello. In those days, the band took the stage alongside the Californian musician at Fabio Zaffagnini's Rockin’1000. On February 20, 2017, Gunash unveiled the official video for their single "Death Comes," produced by Babylon Film with Rami Jaffee as a special guest. Great Expectations was released on CD and LP via Go Down Records in spring 2017. The following Italian tour included 39 gigs with visuals curated by Babylon Film.

In July 2018, Luca Negro, known for his work with Temperance, Light & Shade, and Rockin'1000, joined the trio as their new bass player. This revamped lineup shared the stage with legendary musicians like Nick Oliveri (Kyuss, QOTSA, Mondo Generator), the talented singer John Corabi (Mötley Crüe, The Dead Daisies), and the singer-songwriter Jonny Kaplan (Jonny Kaplan and the Lazy Stars). Nick Oliveri collaborated with Gunash on the song "Predators," which was performed live for the first time at Le Brin de Zinc in Barberaz, France, with Oliveri on vocals. This track appears in the N.O. Hits At All Vol. 7 collection, highlighting Oliveri's best collaborations. It was released by Heavy Psych Sounds Records in July 2021.

Gunash signed with Golden Robot Entertainment Group for the digital release of their fourth album, All You Can Hit. It features renowned US keyboardist and producer Derek Sherinian, along with standout contributions from Nick Oliveri on vocals, Marco Allocco on cello, and Tom Harp Newton on harmonica. All You Can Hit was released on vinyl and CD via Go Down Records in spring 2022.
