MAD DOGS' sophomore album, Ass Shakin' Dirty Rollers, delivers a high-octane dose of rock ‘n’ roll, drawing clear inspiration from MC5, the Hellacopters, Sonic’s Rendezvous Band, and Radio Birdman. Tracks like “Intro,” “Make It Tonight,” “It’s Not Over,” “I Can Move,” and “It’s the Only Thing” pulse with a strong groove, driven by relentless energy and attitude. In contrast, “Surf Ride” and “Point of View” lean into raw, garage-rock grit, while “Girl of My Dreams” brings a touch of classic rock nostalgia.
The album is fueled by a fast, tight rhythm section, fiery guitar solos, and standout contributions from special guests. Alberto Napolioni adds depth with his organ and keyboard work, while Andrea Pozzy (The Sade, OJM) tears into the lead guitar on “Make It Tonight.” Nicola Bagnoli (Gli Avvoltoi) amps up the final track, “Psychedelic Earthquake,” with a wild Hammond organ performance that ends the album on a high note.
