The Sade is an Italian Goth Rock band

The Sade

Biography

THE SADE is a power trio founded by Andrew Pozzy (former OJM) in 2008. One year later the band debuted with an EP and in 2011 its first album Damned Love saw the light with the single “Deaf Love”, whose videoclip was in rotation on Italian RockTV. The band was also hosted in the Pino Scotto’s TV show “Database”.

After lots of live performances across Italy, in 2013 The Sade launched the sophomore album simply called II, featuring Nicola Manzan (Bologna Violenta, Il Teatro degli Orrori) on orchestral parts. The album was supported by the music video “Black Demon” and the band toured in Italy and Europe. Both records received commendable Italian and foreign reviews, bringing The Sade’s music overseas. In 2014 the band took part in the Mondo Muerto compilation by musician friend Tony La Muerte, performing their first-ever cover song in Italian.

In 2016 they recorded a third album Grave featuring the single/video “Afterdeath”, “Coachman” and “Nyctophilia”. But at this point the bass player Mark quit the band to devote himself to the new project Messa. Thus Silvia (Kröwnn) joined the line-up and the band promoted Grave on stage with her.

In 2018 they celebrated ten years of activity with the “X Years Gigs” mini-tour, playing the best of their repertoire. Meanwhile, Andrew on bass and Mattia on drums became the rhythm section for Tony La Muerte’s one-man band concerts, under the name “Il Tonico Reload”.

In December 2020 The Sade appeared on the digital charity compilation We Keep On Shoutin’ - Not Your Average Kiss Tribute, in memory of music photographer Alex Ruffini. They performed a cover of Kiss’ ‘Black Diamond’. During the long, forced hiatus from concerts caused by the pandemic, the band composed new songs, which will be part of its fourth studio album Nocturna, due out via Go Down Records in 2022.

Throughout their career, The Sade shared the stage with many celebrated bands such as The Misfits, Imperial State Electric, Lords Of Altamont, Gilby Clarke (ex-Guns N’ Roses), The Dictators NYC and Christian Death.
