SMALL JACKETS - Cheap Tequila

This is the third album by SMALL JACKETS. The band was formed in 2000 when drummer Danny Savanas and vocalist and guitarist Lu Silver joined forces to form the group. Small Jackets’ non-stop touring led them to perform as an opening act for a White Flag concert, where the band met Chips K (the band's official guitarist and producer) who noticed them and decided to produce Cheap Tequila. A new chapter began for them: the project took the band to Sweden, the new "promised land" of rock’n’roll. The album was recorded at Music-A-Matic Studios in Gothenburg. It was produced by Chips K (Sator) and Henryk Lipp, the same pair of producers/sound engineers who created the sound for (and worked in studio with) The Hellacopters, The Nomads, Sator, Millencollin. It was the first time for them to collaborate with an Italian band. This record is a mix of rock'n'roll, hard-rock, boogie and explosive funky. This sound is quite close to how the band sounds live, but has been enriched by instruments such as hammond, piano, saxophone and harmonica, creating vibrant and enchanting tones that have shaped the band’s "retro- attitude" with a more modern sound. The album featured several guests such as Silvertide singer Walt Lafty, who is a fan of the band. He wrote the lyrics to the song 'We Got A Problem' and sang on it, creating musical atmospheres that sound like early Soundgarden and Alice in Chains. Cheap Tequila is heavily influenced by the sound of bands like AC/DC, Humble Pie, Grand Funk Railroad (Small Jackets recorded a cover of their 'Are You Ready'), Ted Nugent, Motorhead, The Ramones, ZZ Top. This old rock'n'roll with hard southern style attitude was mixed with proto-punk, Detroit hard-rock and Stones-alike riffs!
