VIBRAVOID ’s seventh studio album, Delirio Dei Sensi (“delirium of the senses”), came together at remarkable speed—recorded in just two days during the band’s 2012 Italian tour. Besides some Sixties milestones, this record features brand-new, self-penned songs that capture the spirit of pop’s golden era. With a cover of the 1986 underground gem “Colour Your Mind” by Australian neo-psychedelic heroes Tyrnaround, Vibravoid ventures into new territory for the first time, tackling a track from the “neon-tube” age—proof of the band’s deep musical intuition. In fact, it could easily have been a hit in 1967. They also take on French chanson with a fuzz-drenched version of “Poupée de Cire”—suddenly it’s clear why visionary Napoleon would have chosen Düsseldorf as a home base.
Rooted in classic psychedelic rock and their Düsseldorf DNA, Delirio Dei Sensi still sounds strikingly fresh. You may hear echoes of Syd-era Pink Floyd, MC5, The Seeds, NEU!, or Kraftwerk, yet Vibravoid’s unmistakable identity always leads the way. Psychedelic blueprints like “The Empty Sky” and “The Golden Escalator” haven’t sounded this alive since the 1960s, while “Listen, Can’t You Hear?” could pass for a long-lost early Doors track.
Recorded at Go Down Studio in Italy and performed entirely with VOX equipment, Vibravoid delivers one of 2013’s essential psychedelic pop and acid rock statements. Turn on, tune in, and drop out.
