MAYA MOUNTAINS were formed in 2004 in Venice, but the actual line-up was completed in 2005, with Alessandro Toffanello on bass and vocals, Emanuel Poletto on guitar and Marco Bortoletto on drums. The band is close to stoner rock, heavy psych, 70's sounds and bands like Black Sabbath, Melvins and Kyuss. In 2006 Maya Mountains recorded their first album Hash And Pornography under the direction of Giulio "Ragno” Favero. The album was released by Go Down Records in 2008. After 2 years of intense live shows, the band went to a hiatus. Between 2010 and 2014 all members were involved in different side-projects, both under Go Down Records, with the names of Goliath and Tundra. Goliath was a collective musical project, founded and coordinated by the drummer Marco "martinez" Bortoletto. The homonymous album released in 2012, involved 21 musicians from the Italian stoner-doom scene of the noughties. Tundra was an instrumental project that brought together only Bortoletto and Toffanello for the album entitled Coro, released in 2014. In 2015, Maya Mountains started to compose new music. Long jam sessions, new riffs, visions and concepts were the bases of the new album Era, their second album. Recorded, mixed by Edoardo Pellizzari and produced by Alessandro Siniscalchi, Era is released in 2020 via Go Down Records.
